Change is good
Today, I’m going to talk about my new WIP. Just to clarify for you kinksters, that’s work in progress and not an actual whip.
Most of my stories are m/f and I have a few menages that are m/f/m. After writing enough of these types of stories, which for me isn’t a large number at all, I start to get an itch to change. I’ve always had an open mind. I like change. I like to experiment and see what I like best (be it with food, drinks, books, whatever). My writing is no different. Sometimes I want to go out of my imaginary boundaries and write something I normally wouldn’t. Why? Because I’m curious. I want to see if I can do it and if I like what I write. Will this new piece of work sell? Well, only way to find out is to write the story, submit it, and see what readers have to say.
One of my goals for 2013 was to write something different. I’m meeting that goal sooner than I had thought, but that’s okay. LOL. The contemporary erotic romance series I’m working on now will have two novellas. The first one is m/f/f and the second is m/f/f/m. The first is from a woman’s POV with a few snippets from the man. The second novella is from the man’s POV. They could be read as stand alone books as I always try to provide enough details so a reader doesn’t have to start from the beginning of a series.
Honestly, I’m not sure if a publisher will like this different take in a series where the POV in 1 book is from the female protagonist, then the 2nd book has the male protagonist’s POV. Regardless, I’m willing to write the stories and take the risk to find out. The first novella is submitted and I’m writing the second now. Titles and plots are done. I’m filling in the details as I write– my usual process. My goal is to finish the 2nd book by the end of March. I have two publishers in mind and if they decline, I have others I will submit to.
Change is good. At the very least, exploring opportunities. I firmly believe in trying new things no matter what those things are.
